Co-Chairman and Board Director of AMG Medical
Robert Oringer is Co-Chairman and a Board Director of AMG Medical, (Montreal, Canada).
Robert leads AMG Medical’s efforts in searching for and evaluating innovative technologies to make life more manageable for people living with diabetes. Thanks to his extensive experience in the diabetes field, as well his strong background in enabling technologies, Robert brings a unique perspective in guiding development of novel products and approaches to the self-management of diabetes and its complications.
In addition to his role at AMG, Robert is a Board Director of dLife, a LifeMed Media company (Westport, Connecticut). He is also board advisor at AgaMatrix (Salem, New Hampshire), providing guidance on the development of innovative technologies, as well as product, marketing, and business development strategies.
From 1990 through 1998, Robert was the Founder and President of CanAm Care, a developer of patient-friendly diabetes care products and leading supplier of branded and private label products for patients with diabetes. In 1998, he led the sale of CanAm Care to Inverness Medical (Waltham, Massachusetts). Upon the sale of CanAm Care to Inverness, Robert joined the Board of Directors of Inverness.
When Inverness Medical’s diabetes assets were sold to Johnson & Johnson in 2002, Robert was involved in leading AMG Medical’s investment in Access Product Marketing (Alpharetta, Georgia) — and then Access’ acquisition of CanAm Care from Johnson & Johnson. After the acquisition, he was a Board Director of CanAm Care and played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and it’s eventual sale to Perrigo Company (Allegan, Michigan) in January, 2012.
Mr. Oringer received his Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
